On Mon 23 May 2022 the Grande Halle session of CPDP2022 has been focussing on the proposed AI Act. The panel has been moderated by Omer Tene. The introductory speech was by Didier Reynders, European Commissioner for Justice. The other panelists were Gianclaudio Malgieri, EDHEC Business School (FR); Charles-Albert Helleputte, Steptoe (BE), Katarzyna Szymielewicz, EDRi (BE); Anna Moscibroda, DG Just (EU); Sylwia Giepmans-Stepien, Google (BE).

The panel addressed the following questions:

• What is the future of the AI Act, and on what timescale? What are the key problems with the Act, and how might they be resolved? How is the Act likely to change moving towards adoption, and what are the likely drivers of change? What will the impact of the Act be, in Europe, and elsewhere?

Malgieri addressed the problems in the risk list (Article 5 and Annex III of the EC proposal). The video of the event is available here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5rkL9rGZ_ek
